Update: Repair Results

PC Update:

I've been in touch with my PC repair guy. He concluded that my video card has been the problem of the motherboard shorting out. He suggested grabbing a new card. Here's what might be my new card - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150276 -- it looks promising and it fits in my budget..plus it's from Newegg, an awesome place for PC parts...anyway will keep on posting updates...

Ditching XP for Ubuntu 8.04?

Hey everyone,

Well, recently my XP box has been needing repair. It's getting no power to the PSU. It should be backup within a few days (crosses fingers). In the meantime, a few months ago a coworker of mine who builds PC's for friends and associates was kind enough to give me a decent AMD 2600+ Athlon XP, 128 megs of RAM, integrated audio/video. Nothing too special, but it works. Originally it had PCLinux2007 installed but the owner didn't write down the username/password. I decided to download the latest version of Ubuntu. I've used Ubuntu in the past and have had much luck with the OS. After the install, I spent a couple days fussin around with the system to have audio, config my desktop and panel to my liking, getting updates, setting up my IM/IRC software, reading my NTFS drive (no write support, yet), and many other small tweaks that I've done. As of now, the system is just about there, except for the write support for my ntfs drive. But in the end, I've taken much pride and dedication to my new Ubuntu setup..way more dedication than I've ever given any version of Windows. So the question remains, have I ditched XP for Ubuntu 8.04? Only time will tell, but the chances are looking good...

[Additional Spec's]

Want to get free iPod and other iStuff? Read more...

I need help getting a free iPod touch that is worth $399. I also found a number of sites that prove they are legit. I signed up for the referral program because I only need 5 people to signup under my referral link for the iPod touch (it is also cheaper than completing the offers). They each have to complete one offer (there is a free one I can link you) and retain a member for 21 days. After that, you can cancel the offer before they charge you. I would save the link in my browser or set a calender even in Outlook to remind myself to cancel before the billing date..

Here is my referral link: http://www.youripodtouch4free.com/index.php?ref=4666756. Here is the link for the stamps.com offer that is free...I can't do it because I have no printer hooked up here - http://www.youripodtouch4free.com/offers.php?view=4&level= (it should be the first one on the list). And, finally, here are the sites that have proven the company is legit - http://www.truveo.com/Free-iPod-Free-iPhone-Official-CNN-NBC-FOX-G4TV/id/2612074207 and here is one more link that is from a blogsite with pictures of his free stuff - http://free-playstation-3.blogspot.com/ (if you scroll down the pictures are on the right side of the page). You can also visit the company giving out the gifts at http://www.trainn.org.

Let me know if you have any questions.

P.S. I will keep everyone updated on my account progress with this handy little picture...

There are many other gifts that you receive for free, the iPod touch is just one of them that caught my eye...

Birthday + a few goodies for the system

Well, I'm 23 years old now...hard to believe. I had a couple goodies I got for my birthday. First off, was the 20'' HDTV that I use for my primary tv. And second, was my 19'' Widescreen LCD monitor for my system. I still use the 17'' LCD but I am lacking the need of another DVI connector for my videocard...already found one on eBay so I am grabbing a couple of those.
